Dearest Wine Club Members,

We hope that you had a wonderful summer and that your fall has been off to a good start, as well. As most of you know, we recently remodeled the tasting room and patio and we could not be happier with the new digs. The view is especially hard to beat.

Harvest is in full swing here at the winery, and it looks to be another award winning vintage. This October wine club shipment consists of two library wines and two new release wines. The 2011 Jillian's Blend and the 2011 Mast Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, both of which pair nicely with Friday date night or summer evening cookouts. The light and flirty 2015 Ghost Ranch Pinot Noir is ready to make its debut, while the strong and lush 2014 Mast Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon requires a little more patience (but it's worth the wait).


2011 Jillian's Red Blend, Napa Valley

Retail: $52.00 / Club Laird: $41.60

Notes: Enticing aromatics of fresh tobacco leaf, star anise, clove, and a flash of rhubarb lead into a bright bramble berry entry backed with a hint of smokiness and an approachable, moderate tannic structure on the palate. A hefty tapestry of tart cherry, baking spices and espresso offer a satisfying finish.


2011 Mast Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, Yountville AVA

Retail: $90.00 / Club Laird: $72.00

Notes: Deep, hedonistic color visually articulates this fragrant spice box of complexity: grilled meat, white pepper, celery seed, cardamom, and mocha. Vibrant acidity provides balance to a solid core of tannins: body is slightly lean on entry, unfolding to dense, earthy grip. A chewy, dark fruit finish with an essence of espresso clings seductively.


2015 Ghost Ranch Pinot Noir, Carneros

Retail: $48.00 / Wine Club: $38.40

Notes: A true stunner, this Pinot has a ruby red plum hue which leads to a youthful, fruit driven nose of dark cherry, vanilla, and hints of cinnamon and clove. The ripe, juicy palate explodes with flavors of cherry compote, vibrant acidity, and undertones of raspberry and cranberry. This complex Pinot Noir would be the perfect duo for a cedar plank Salmon filet or a pork tenderloin.


2014 Mast Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, Yountville AVA

Retail: $80.00 / Wine Club: $64.00

Notes: The alluring appearance of the viscous deep purple legs invites the nose to enticing aromas of baking spice, dusty blackberries, sweet oak, and buttered croissants. The low acid palate is complemented by layers of pipe tobacco, black cherries, and ripe plum. With soft, supple tannins, this wine would pair beautifully with a rack of lamb or anything that comes from the grill. Enjoy at a moment's whim or cellar for four to six years.
