Dearest Wine Club Members,

We hope that you have had a fabulous summer. As we approach the second half of Harvest, a majority of our fruit has been picked; we are now waiting for the final few to be picked for our big, bold reds. The hot, dry weather conditions of 2015 have led to slightly smaller, yet still high quality yields.
At this time, we are so excited about this current wine club shipment because we are releasing a variety of vintages of Laird wine! Our staff is clamoring for the re-release of the 2009 Jillian's. If you don't have the patience to age your wine, that's okay because we've done it for you. You're welcome. Second in the line-up, with the addition of Malbec and Petit Verdot, the 2012 Jillian's Blend is like the 2009 Jillian's Blend on steroids. With great complexity, it can be enjoyed on its own or with food. Robert Parker liked this wine so much he rated it 91 points! Third in line is a rich and chewy wine that is best paired with a thick, juicy steak marinated in chimichurri, 2012 Flat Rock Malbec. Due to the extreme limited availability of this wine, there is a maximum of 3 bottles per order. Finally, despite the criticisms of the 2011 vintage, our Cabernet Sauvignon is aging quite well. We are re-releasing a vertical of our 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon as they are beginning to show their true potential as elegant, well-structured wines.

2009 Jillian's Blend Red Wine

Retail: $58 / Wine Club: $46

(68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 12% Merlot)

Notes: Dark red-violet color introduces a pronounced nose, reminiscent of black cherry, candied plum, and vanilla, is rounded off with a potpourri of blackberry, licorice, chocolate and spice on the palate, while soft tannins compliment the long finish.

2012 Jillian's Blend Red Wine

Retail: $45 / Wine Club: $36

(65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 10% Merlot, 3% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot)
91 Points Robert Parker

Notes: A sweet nose of butterscotch leads to a tornado of flavor, including homemade blackberry pie and eucalyptus. A very lively and spice filled finish leaves a lingering finish of baking spices, coffee and pipe tobacco. With a rich body and moderate tannins this will be a show stopper for years to come.

2012 Flat Rock Ranch Malbec

Retail: $65 / Wine Club: $52

Notes: Deep red-violet appearance gives way to a rich bouquet of black current, cigar box, and blackberry. Rich juicy palate with leathery tannins, notes of roasted coffee beans and red plum with just a hint of eucalyptus.

2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Retail: $58 / Wine Club: $46.40

Notes: The deep crimson appearance offers a rich bouquet of ripe strawberry, cranberry, roasted coffee bean, and brown sugar. Leathery tannins are balanced with bright notes of juicy red cherry, fresh tobacco, and tea leaf on the palate. A pleasing finish of cedar and dark fruit lingers.

2011 Mast Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon

Retail: $70 / Wine Club: $56

Notes: Deep sanguine color visually articulates this fragrant spice box of complexity: grilled meat, white pepper, celery seed, cardamom, and mocha. Vibrant acidity provides balance to a solid core of tannins: body is slightly lean on entry, unfolding to dense, earthy grip. A chewy, dark fruit finish with an essence of espresso clings seductively.

2011 Flat Rock Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon

Retail: $90 / Wine Club: $72

Notes: Opaque garnet hue; saddle and unlit cigar make for an alluring, masculine nose. Cherry fruit leather dusted with white pepper mid-palate later reveal deeper tones of fennel and caramelized plum with a finessed grip. Melted road tar and rich blue fruit deliver a persistent, velvety finish.
