Dearest Wine Club Members,

We hope that the New Year has been off to a good start for you, and that those of you who are in the path of Storm Inga are faring well. You are welcome to escape the storm and visit us at Laird Family Estate! The rain has brought us beautiful greenery that covers the surrounding rolling hills. The sun is shining, the air is brisk, and the vines are dormant, with bud break only weeks away.

We are excited about this current wine club shipment because we are releasing some new vintages of Laird wine, as well as, some top sellers. First in the line-up is the 2014 vintage of our full-bodied Phantom Ranch Pinot Noir. This Pinot Noir is an excellent food-pairing wine, as it goes well with anything from Spaghetti with meatballs to Indian food to Cioppino. Second up is a magnum bottle of our 2012 Jillian’s Blend. This is great wine to open when you’re hosting or attending a dinner party, or when that one friend comes over. You know, the one with the hollow leg. Third up is one of our most popular wines, the 2013 Jillian’s Blend. This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. It can drink as a stand-alone wine or it can be paired with Filet Mignon with a balsamic glaze, homemade chunky chili, or braised lamb if you’re feeling adventurous. The fourth wine in the shipment is the well-balanced 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and the grapes are sourced from two of our favorite vineyards, Mast Ranch and Flat Rock. This is a wine that you can age for up to ten years (if you have the patience). Last, but not least, is a wine club exclusive wine, the 2015 Suscol Ranch Syrah. This is a small-production wine with great complexity. Trust us, you won’t want to pass up this palate-pleaser, because it won’t last long.


2014 Phantom Ranch Pinot Noir, Napa-Carneros

Retail: $54.00 / Wine Club: $44.00

Notes: The aroma is a brilliant medley of rose petals, black cherry, liquorice, and cedar. As the wine hits your palate, the lively acidity is evocative of tart strawberries, while undertones of toffee and marzipan slowly make their presence. The ripe tannins are well-integrated and allow for a lingering finish.


2012 Jillian’s Blend, Napa Valley, 1.5L

Retail: $99.00 / Wine Club: $79.20

Notes: A sweet nose of butterscotch leads to a tornado of flavor, including homemade blackberry pie and eucalyptus. A very lively and spice filled finish leaves a lingering finish of baking spices, coffee and pipe tobacco. With a rich body and moderate tannins this is a true show stopper.


2013 Jillian’s Blend, Napa Valley

Retail: $48.00 / Wine Club: $38.40

Notes: An alluring nose of charred tobacco and fine leather leads way to a tannin filled palate complimented by the flavors of Bing cherries, dusty blackberries and unsweetened cocoa. The bright lively finish of leather, espresso and baking spices leaves you craving your next sip. Structured to last this is sure to be a gem of your cellar.


2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Yountville

Retail: $60.00 / Wine Club: $48.00

Notes: With its deep purple tinged ruby color and long lasting legs the Napa Cabernet has a bouquet of wild berries, cocoa, cassis and toasted oak. The palate develops flavors of ripe plum, boysenberry, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco and baking spice. The long lingering finish has youthful tannins that keeps you coming back for more. This wine would pair perfectly with a Cambozola cheese or a hardwood grilled steak.


2015 Suscol Ranch Syrah, Napa Valley

Retail: $48.00 / Wine Club: $38.40

Notes: Its deep Tyrian purple color will leave an inky rim around your glass. The nose has developing aromas of plum jam, brown sugar, fresh blackberries, charred oak and vanilla. The medium body palate has a long, lingering finish with notes of maple syrup, baking spice & juicy ripe peach. This should be all the rage at your next BBQ.
